Dobbiaco is located between the Olympic competition centres of Anterselva (biathlon) and Cortina (skiing, curling, bobsleigh, luge). Antholz can be easily reached by bus and train, Cortina by bus.

Winterolympics Cortina 1956

The 7th Winter Olympic Games, also known as Cortina ‘56, were held in Cortina d’Ampezzo from 26 January to 5 February 1956. They were the first Winter Olympics in Italy. A memorable edition. Cortina and the Dolomites entered the hearts of the whole world thanks to the 1956 Games.

As many as 821 athletes (132 women and 689 men) from thirty-two different countries took part in the 1956 Seventh Winter Olympics in Cortina.) All competitions took place in ten different sports venues. The figure skating competitions were held in the ice stadium. Alpine skiing competitions were held on four different slopes: Canalone, Col Drusciè, Ilio Colli and Olimpia, while speed skating was held in an enchanting setting: Lake Misurina.

Winterolympics Milano-Cortina 2026

The XXV Olympic Winter Games, also known as Milano Cortina 2026, will take place from 6 to 22 February 2026 in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, the co-host cities (a first in the history of the Games). In addition to Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, the competitions will be held in Anterselva, Bormio, Livigno, Predazzo and Tesero.

More than 3,500 athletes from 93 countries will compete for 195 medals in 16 Olympic and six Paralympic disciplines against the backdrop of the beautiful Italian landscape.
